#define phDelete  )     { if (x) { delete x; x = NULL; } }

A macro that frees memory using delete and resets the pointer that points to the freed memory to NULL. Using this macro prevents a number of potential errors and allows the catching of other errors because dereferencing NULL will almost certainly cause segfaults that are easy to track down.
